The Los Angeles Dodgers have been plagued by injuries like no other organization this season. Among those to be sidelined for a substantial amount of time include a trio of All-Stars in Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager and Justin Turner.
While the Dodgers’ Major League roster has been most affected by injuries to date, there have been a few notable instances at the Minor League level as well.
In April, Andrew Toles was placed on the disabled list with a hamstring strain that kept him off the field for nearly two months before returning at the start of June.
Now, according to J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group, Dodgers prospect Matt Beaty will undergo surgery next week to repair a torn UCL ligament in his thumb:
Dodgers prospect Matt Beaty will have surgery Tuesday on the UCL ligament in his thumb, which he hurt sliding into home plate last Saturday. The hope is he'll miss only 6-8 weeks. He was batting .300 at OKC.

Beaty’s injury is especially unfortunate, considering the strides he has made since the end of last season. The 25-year-old was one of two Dodgers prospects named to the 2017 Fall Stars Game after an impressive showing in the Arizona Fall League.
Beaty capitalized on that success with an invitation to Spring Training, where he received valuable experience in a Major League environment.
He went on to appear in 17 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, hitting .300/.386/.450 across 71 plate appearances with six doubles, one home run and six RBI.
