Fresh off being among four Los Angeles Dodgers prospects to earn weekly honors, Josue De Paula was additionally named Texas League Player of the Month for May.

De Paula was named Player of the Week in the Texas League after going 12-for-24 (.500) with six doubles, two home runs, six RBI and 11 runs over six games against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals’ Double-A affiliate).
He punctuated the week with a career highs in hits (four), home runs (two) and runs scored (four) in the Drillers’ 10-9 win over the Naturals this past Sunday.

For May, De Paula batted .340 and led the Texas League in hits (35), doubles (14) and total bases (67). He also finished second in several other categories, including runs scored (27), RBI (29), slugging percentage (.650) and on-base plus slugging (1.060).

De Paula had nine multi-hit games and finished May on a nine-game hitting streak that has since been extended to 12 straight games. On aMay 31, the 21-year-old had the third two-homer game of his career.

MLB Pipeline has ranked De Paula as the No. 1 prospect in the Dodgers farm system.

When will Josue De Paula make MLB debut?

De Paula is in his first full season at the Double-A level and could make his MLB debut as soon as the 2027 season. He represented the Dodgers in the All-Star Futures Game 2025, winning MVP at the event, and was among their non-roster invitees to big league camp in Spring Training this year.

The Dodgers signed De Paula as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2022. He was 16 years old at the time and received a $397,500 signing bonus.

His power swing has been accompanied by improved plate discipline as De Paula has shown a willingness to work the count and take his walks.

De Paula’s emergence in the Dodgers’ farm system has seemingly made him an untouchable prospect in the eyes of some talent evaluators. He also leads a strong collection of Minor League outfielders the Dodgers boast, including Drillers teammates Zyhir Hope and Mike Sirota, plus the likes of Eduardo Quintero, Charles Davalan and James Tibbs III.

Kendall George was part of that group as well but his season and trajectory is on hold after a left knee injury whlie avoiding the Drillers’ bat dog.
