Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Jorbit Vivas was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the period of May 16-22.

Vivas batted .560/.607/.920 with two doubles, two triples, one home run and eight RBI over six games during that span. He led the Midwest League in batting average, hits (14), total bases (23) and tied for first in triples.

The past week additionally saw Vivas rank second in on-base percentage and on-base plus slugging (1.527), and tie for second in the Midwest League with five extra-base hits. His slugging percentage was good for third-best and RBI tied for third-most.

The torrid stretch added onto what’s been a bounce-back month after the utility man struggled out of the gate with the Loons. Entering play Tuesday, Vivas is hitting .342/.412/.500 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and 15 RBI in May.

He batted just .191 in April, but managed five doubles, four RBI and 16 walks en route to a .643 OPS in 19 games.

Along with Jacob Amaya, Eddys Leonard, Michael Grove and James Outman, Vivas was added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster during the offseason to protect against potentially being selected in the 2021 Rule 5 Draft that was never held because of the MLB lockout.

Vivas had just one hit in five at-bats over three Cactus League games this year. He spent the 2021 season with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes, batting a combined .312/.396/.496 with 26 doubles, 14 home runs and 87 RBI over 106 games.

The Dodgers signed Vivas out of Venezuela on July 4, 2017.

Vivas adds to Dodgers prospects earning honors

Others in the Dodgers farm system to earn Minor League honors this season include Loons pitcher Kyle Hurt, along with Triple-A Oklahoma City teammates Zach McKinstry, Ryan Pepiot and Yefry Ramírez.
