Dodgers Spring Training: Andy Pages Fully Cleared After Left Shoulder Surgery

Andy Pages has had quite the journey as a Los Angeles Dodgers prospect so far in his career. Pages burst on to the scene in 2020 after he cracked the Dodgers’ top-25 prospects list from MLB Pipeline, debuting at No. 14, but his trajectory has been thrown off a bit since.

That was the same year that he was going to be traded, along with Joc Pederson, to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Luis Rengifo. It was contingent on the Dodgers first completing deals with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, and the Angels trade ultimately fell through.

Pages then continued his meteoric rise, reaching as high as the No. 4 ranked Dodgers prospect by MLB Pipeline in 2022. But he suffered a setback in 2023 after a torn labrum in his shoulder cut his season short at just 34 games across Double-A Tulsa and his Triple-A Oklahoma City debut.

Less than one year later, Pages has been fully cleared from left shoulder surgery as he takes part in 2024 Dodgers Spring Training, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:

While Pages is not expected to make his MLB debut during the 2024 season, he could be an early choice for promotion in case of injury. Another possibility is joining the team when active rosters expand in September.

Otherwise, this year largely is going to give Pages a full opportunity to establish himself with Oklahoma City.

Andy Pages is another piece of crowded Dodgers outfield

Pages, currently the No. 6 ranked prospect in the Dodgers’ system according to MLB Pipeline, is yet another victim of the front office’s ability to build organizational depth.

Don’t get it twisted, the problem of having too many talented players and not enough space to play them is a very good one for the Dodgers to have. Especially given the way injuries have plagued the Dodgers in recent years.

Pages joins fellow Dodger youngster Miguel Vargas in the push to claim an outfield roster spot at Camelback Ranch this season.
