Tanner Scott was not in the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen during their loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
The 8-2 drubbing snapped the Dodgers’ postseason winning streak at five games. They had been on a nine-game winning streak dating back to the final stretch of the 2025 regular season.
“Tanner was not at the ballpark today. There was something going on personal. It will come out later, but he was completely unavailable,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Game 3.
That presumably was a factor in Clayton Kershaw remaining in the game to pitch the eighth inning. He entered out of the bullpen in the seventh and completed a scoreless frame, though was hardly sharp and benefitted from some good fortune.
Kershaw gave up a leadoff home run to J.T. Realmuto in the eighth inning, along with a two-run single to Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber hit his second long ball of the night to break the game open.
Scott has yet to appear in a postseason game with the Dodgers. He finished the regular season with back-to-back scoreless appearances but set a career high with 10 blown saves.
Scott’s struggles, along with inconsistent performances by the likes of Blake Treinen and others, has prompted the Dodgers to utilize Tyler Glasnow, Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki in bullpen roles thus far.
Glasnow pitched 1.2 innings as a reliever in Game 2 and now is poised to start Thursday as the Dodgers make another effort at eliminating the Phillies.
When is Tanner Scott returning?
Roberts did not provide specifics for Scott’s absence, nor did he indicate if the left-hander would be back with the team for Game 4.
If Scott doesn’t rejoin the Dodgers for Game 4, his next opportunity wouldn’t be until a potential Game 5 in Philadelphia or the start of the NL Championship Series.
