Dodgers News: Yimi Garcia Recalled, Edward Paredes Optioned To Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed relief pitcher Yimi Garcia and optioned left-hander Edward Paredes to Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Garcia has been back and forth between the big leagues and Oklahoma City a couple times in his first season since undergoing Tommy John surgery. He has struggled a bit in his short time with the Dodgers, giving up six hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out three and walking one in 4.2 innings. That amounts to a 7.71 ERA, 5.25 FIP and 1.50 WHIP.

Garcia has fared much better in his time with Oklahoma City, yielding a 3.55 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 12 appearances. In 12.2 innings pitched, he has struck out 12 hitters without allowing a walk.

Like Garcia, Paredes has seen himself on the shuttle between Los Angeles and Oklahoma City often this season. He did not make an appearance in his most recent stint with the club, as has only pitched once this season, on May 3 when he retired both batters faced.

Paredes has pitched in 15 games with Oklahoma City on the year, posting a 1.17 ERA and 1.50 WHIP while striking out 19 compared to 12 walks in 15.1 innings.

With the Dodgers in the midst of a stretch in which they play 10 straight days and 16 games in 17 days, relievers could be going back and forth between the Major League roster and Triple-A quite frequently.
