In the midst of a heated National League West division race with the Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was the target of multiple burglary attempts on his home.
Each of the attacks took place when Puig was away from the property. While he was able to stay out of harm’s way, the 27-year-old was left with roughly $10,000 in damages after three men displaced a safe in his house.
According to The Associated Press, 10 alleged gang members were recently charged in connection to the robbery attempts on Puig’s home, as well as other burglaries that preyed on fellow Los Angeles athletes and celebrities:
Court documents show 10 alleged gang members face felony charges in connection with a series of burglaries that targeted the Los Angeles homes of celebrities including Rihanna, Dodgers star Yasiel Puig and Rams wide receiver Robert Woods. City News Service reports Tuesday that the men are charged with conspiracy and numerous other counts including burglary and home-invasion robbery.
Last year, an estimated $170,000 in jewelry was taken from Puig’s home over the span of two separate robberies. In the wake of two more taking place this past September, he can finally put all of this behind him now that the perpetrators have been brought to justice.
In addition to Puig, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods was the victim of a burglary attempt on his home. Investigators also identified Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James as a target.
