Many baseball legends and championships have come and gone over the past 70 years for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but one named remained constant. Vin Scully not only broadcasted Dodgers games, but also told stories that brought families together and inspired all who listened.

Now enjoying retirement, Scully finds himself with more time to spend with his family and to take up any interests outside baseball. In fact, his story-telling ability will be making another appearance, but in a different field of entertainment.

Scully has signed on to narrate two different performances of the upcoming orchestra “Lincoln Portrait,” which will be held at the Hollywood Bowl. The performances Scully will be part of are scheduled for June 13 and June 18.

The show will feature a composition of music, along with various anecdotes from former President Abraham Lincoln.

The original rendition of the performance debuted in 1942 shortly after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Conductor Andre Kostelanetz believed it could be a way to boost the spirits of Americans in attendance.

Scully’s narration of “Lincoln Portrait” will surely be an experience to behold, with an attention to craft and soothing voice that will never be replicated. Several of the Hall-of-Famer’s are synonymous with both Dodgers and baseball history.

The 89-year-old bid farewell to baseball last season after an immaculate 67-year career. Although the Dodgers weren’t able to capture a World Series in Scully’s final year, the Dodgers and all of baseball did a fantastic job in commemorating and honoring Scully.

That carried into this season when the Dodgers added Scully to the Ring of Honor at Dodger Stadium. A plaque bearing a microphone and his last name hangs alongside the organization’s retired jersey numbers.

Tickets for remain available for both performances of “Lincoln Portrait” that Scully will narrate. Tickets to the June 13 showing are available here, and for the June 18 date here.
