Los Angeles Dodgers Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín announced his intention to retire after the 2022 season, which will mark his 64th year calling games for the organization.
Jarrín, the longest-tenured active baseball broadcaster, has been a staple in the booth for more than six decades. Over the course of his Hall of Fame career, he has called three perfect games, nearly two-dozen no-hitters, 26 All-Star Games and 29 World Series.
Along with Vin Scully, Jarrín has been one of the primary voices of Dodgers baseball since the team relocated to L.A., and it is impossible to overstate what he means to the fanbase.
Scully took to Twitter to congratulate Jarrín on an excellent career and wished him well as he transitions to retirement:
Los Angeles has been so lucky to have enjoyed the talents of Jaime Jarrin for over six decades. I'm thrilled my dear pal will get to spend precious time with his family in retirement. All the best to you Jaime. https://t.co/5bQ0U58jLs

Almost identical to Jarrín, Scully announced his retirement at the end of the 2016 season after calling Dodgers games on television for 67 years.
Jarrín’s planned retirement will be two years after his son, Jorge, stepped away from the booth following a long career calling games. The Jarríns formed the first-ever father-son broadcasting team on MLB Spanish-language radio and were on the call last year when the Dodgers won their first World Series since 1988.
Earlier this season, Jarrín was the recipient of the Latino Spirit Award from the California Latino Caucus. The honor recognizes his work in radio broadcasting and philanthropy.
Among the many other accolades Jarrín has earned include the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998, becoming just the second Spanish-language broadcaster to receive the honor.
In 2002, Jarrín was inducted into the California Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, and the following year, he was honored in the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum. The Dodgers inducted Jarrín into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor in 2018.
Jarrín thanks Scully
During a press conference to discuss his decision to retire after the 2022 regular season concludes, Jarrín thanked several current and former members of the Dodgers organization, including Scully.
“Vin has been a very good friend of mine, he has been my mentor, my teacher, my friend, everything. I don’t have the words to thank for Vin everything he has done on my behalf,” Jarrín said.
