The catch made in left-center field by Andy Pages during Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays has been one of the most talked about from a World Series that was chock-full of them.
Kiké Hernández was the other player involved in the play, and he previously gave a first-hand account of getting “posterized” by Pages’ heroic catch.
During an appearance on “The Sedano and Kap Morning Show” on ESPN LA sports radio, Tommy Edman shared his perspective of Pages’ game-saving catch:
“Yeah, it was crazy. Probably for a couple seconds, nobody knew if he caught the ball or not. You see both guys kind of go to the ground, you see Kiké laying on the ground and he’s in a state of despair because he thought nobody had caught it. And then you see Andy kind of get up and start to run off the field, and you’re like, ‘Oh, thank goodness he caught it.’
“Then he turns around and sees Kiké lying on the ground and says, ‘Hey, don’t worry bro. I caught it.’ That was funny. Definitely an iconic image from World Series history that will live on forever.”
Even though he started Game 7 in center field, Edman was not on the field at the time Dodgers because manager Dave Roberts made the move to insert Pages into the game.
It spawned from wanting to get Pages’ arm strength into center field, though wound up being a sound decision nevertheless as Edman would have had a much harder time making a play on the ball with a bum right ankle.
Tommy Edman hopes to be healthy after ankle surgery
Edman’s ankle was an issue for most of the 2025 season, and the Dodgers’ utilityman recently underwent a procedure to address the issue causing him discomfort.
The injury required two separate stints on the injured list, and even then, Edman was playing at less than 100% when he was on the field.
Edman’s hopes to get back to being who he is as a baseball player next season, and that includes being able to play anywhere on the field and stealing bases again.
