Dodgers News: Teoscar Hernández Starting To ‘Feel Like Myself’

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a series win over the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park thanks in part to Teoscar Hernández’s contributions at the plate.

The veteran outfielder matched a season high with four hits in the Dodgers’ 10-2 win against the Giants on Sunday. That came one day after Hernández went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in a 13-7 win over San Francisco.

The 32-year-old has now recorded multiple hits in three of his last five games. It’s a positive development for Hernández, who has mostly struggled since returning from a left groin/adductor strain in May.

Hernández explained he is starting to feel more like himself at the plate, via Sonja Chen of MLB.com:

“I finally feel like myself,” Hernández said. “Every coordination that I work on in the cage, everything that I try to do in the cage before the game, I’ve been doing it these past five days. So it’s definitely getting closer to where I was before I got hurt at the beginning of the season.”

Hernández added his swing is coming along at the perfect time with the Dodgers trying to secure an automatic bye to the NL Division Series:

“It’s getting better at the right time, right before the season ends. We’re still fighting, trying to win some games to get closer to the second spot [in the overall NL standings]. Just keep working and let everything go on the field.”

Hernández is having a bit of a down year by his standards, but he can wash away all of those frustrations with a strong finish to the regular season.

Hernández enters play Monday hitting .251/.285/.461 with 27 doubles, 24 home runs and 84 RBI in 123 games. He got off to a blistering start, but has posted a disappointing .675 on-base plus slugging percentage since May 19 (90 games).

Teoscar Hernández: Dodgers ‘trying to do the little things’

The Dodgers hold a 2.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres and still have a glimmer of hope to clinch one of the top two seeds in the NL playoffs.

With less than two weeks remaining in the regular season, Hernández said the Dodgers are trying to focus on the little things to help them win as many games as possible.
