Dodgers News: Shohei Ohtani Announces He’s ‘Now Married’ To Woman From Japan

Shohei Ohtani is settling in with the Los Angeles Dodgers after signing a 10-year, $700 million contract in the offseason that made him the highest paid player in professional sports history.

He has been working his way back from right elbow surgery and an oblique injury that ended his 2023 season with the Los Angeles Angels, and things seem to be going well on the field.

He appeared in his first game with the Dodgers on Tuesday, and posted his first highlight with an opposite field home run.

Off the field, things are going well for Ohtani too as he announced on his Instagram that he is now married.

Ohtani’s caption on Instagram says, “To all my friends and fans throughout, I have an announcement to make: Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married. I am excited for what is come and thank you for your support.”

The photo he posted is a message in Japanese, which according to Google Translate, starts by thanking everyone for their continued support, and with the season approaching, he wanted to announce the news of his marriage.

Ohtani’s message went on to say he is marrying a woman from Japan and hopes the two of them will work together and support each other in their new environment and with a new team.

The message also says there will be an interview to further expand on the marriage.

Ohtani’s marriage announcement was made late Wednesday night. When Ohtani made the decision to sign with the Dodgers, he also utilized Instagram to share his choice.

Shohei Ohtani posts Dekopin in marriage announcement

At the bottom of Ohtani’s marriage announcement, he posted a photo of his dog, Dekopin (or Decoy), who has become one of the most famous dogs in the world recently.

Ohtani revealed the name of his dog at the press conference to announce his signing with the Dodgers.

Dekopin also received a fake United States visa earlier this year.
