Tyler Glasnow spent the majority of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays before they traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the 2024 season.
During his time with the Rays, Glasnow was one of the most electric pitchers in baseball while he was on the mound, although health was often an issue. Despite his limited action, Glasnow became a fan favorite in Tampa Bay.

The Rays first acquired Glasnow at the 2018 MLB trade deadline when they sent Chris Archer to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Rays received Glasnow in addition to Austin Meadows and Shane Baz in the trade.
The right-hander was drafted by the Pirates in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft and made his debut on July 7, 2016, when he threw 5.1 innings with four runs allowed, three hits, five strikeouts and two walks against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Glasnow never found his footing with the Pirates, but took off with the Rays. That ultimately led to a five-year, $136.5 million contract extension with the Dodgers at the time of the trade.
Glasnow made 71 starts for the Rays, throwing 388.1 innings with a 3.20 ERA and 526 strikeouts. The right-hander also played a key role in Tampa Bay reaching the 2020 World Series.
He made 10 postseason starts for the Rays across four years.
When he was traded to the Dodgers, it netted the Rays Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca, who are both playing significant roles with the club.
Different homecoming for Tyler Glasnow
Although Glasnow returned with the Dodgers to the Tampa Bay area, he was not able to return to Tropicana Field, where he made the majority of his starts.
Tropicana Field sustained significant damage in October 2024, due to Hurricane Milton. The Rays are currently playing at George M. Steinbrenner Field, the New York Yankees’ Spring Training home, in Tampa, Fl. as a result of the storm.
