When the Los Angeles Dodgers completed their trade for Mookie Betts and David Price, they not only raved about adding talented All-Stars to the roster but caring teammates in the clubhouse as well.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman drafted Price when he was at the helm of the Tampa Bay Rays front office, and he’d long been an admirer of Betts. Both players quickly assimilated themselves before Spring Training was shut down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As the United States works toward re-opening, the Dodgers and multiple players have contributed to relief efforts.

That latest being Betts, who surprised customers at a market in Tennessee by purchasing their groceries and providing pizza for employees, according to Chris Harris of WSMV News4 Nashville:

Cool! @mookiebetts surprised shoppers at the Kroger in Bordeaux, TN by buying their groceries. The former Overton Bobcat and current LA Dodgers OF also treated the staff at the store to pizza to thank them for all the hard work they have been doing as essential front-line workers pic.twitter.com/gGcXDkWSMV

Betts surprising shoppers comes not only during a time of need because of the coronavirus, but the Bordeaux, Tenn. area was hit hard by a tornado in March.

Betts carried forward the kind gesture one day after making his debut on a Dodgers Zoom party. He spoke of being excited to wear a Dodgers uniform for the first time during the regular season, even if there are some nerves that will come with it.

Elsewhere on the charitable front, Justin and Kourtney Turner continue to partner with local restaurants who are delivering food to the L.A. Dream Center that is distributed as part of their daily program.

Clayton and Ellen Kershaw, Chris Taylor, and Max and Kellie Muncy are among those who have also contributed to The Dream Center’s efforts. And in similar fashion to Betts, the Dodgers, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and Smart & Final combined to surprise shoppers by picking up their tabs.
