Dodgers News: Mookie Betts & Blake Treinen Reach 10 Years Of Major League Service Time

Mookie Betts and Blake Treinen have missed significant stretches of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2024 season, but both players recently reached an impressive milestone.

Betts and Treinen totaled 10 years of Major League service time, joining an exclusive group of players that dates back more than a century.

Accruing 10 years of Major League service time is considered a significant benchmark as fewer than 10% of players in MLB history have accomplished the feat.

Betts even threw a party to celebrate the occasion, posting videos of it to his social media channels.

James Paxton hit the milestone earlier this season and was honored with a champagne toast in the Dodgers clubhouse. Manager Dave Roberts said at the time that a few more players would join the list in 2024.

Kolten Wong, who had a brief stint with the Dodgers last season, was among the 30 players who reached the milestone in 2023. The group also included former Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood, who joined the illustrious group in his third season with the San Francisco Giants.

Betts has been sidelined since the middle of June after he was hit by a 98 mph fastball that fractured his left hand. The 31-year-old hasn’t been able to resume baseball activities to this point, but noted his hand is healing nicely.

Treinen missed the first five weeks of the season while recovering from a bruised lung after being hit by a comebacker during Spring Training. The right-hander has already thrown more innings this year than all of 2022-2023, when he dealt with shoulder issues.

Both players have been having tremendous seasons while on the field, and that should continue deep into this season.

Dodgers players who reached 10 years of Major League service time

Prior to Betts, Paxton and Wong, Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner were the last Dodgers players to accrue 10 years of Major League service time.
