Dodgers News: MLB Extends Trevor Bauer’s Stay On Administrative Leave For 7 More Days

Major League Baseball announced that with the agreement of the Players Association, they have extended Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer’s placement on Administrative Leave for an additional seven days, effective on Friday.

MLB’s investigation remains ongoing as they continue to dig into the sexual assault allegations against the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner.

As things currently stand, Bauer will remain on leave for another week, and after that, the Players Association would have to agree for it to be extended indefinitely for it to go beyond that. Bauer still gets paid while he’s on leave but is not allowed to pitch or be around the team.

As far as the sexual assault allegations go, Bauer’s camp has maintained innocence since the allegations came out, saying that the sexual encounter between him and the woman was fully consensual. That remains the case now as his camp put out another statement after his stay on leave was extended for seven games, via Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic:

MLB and the Pasadena Police Department are each doing their own separate investigations on the matter, with the latter potentially resulting in criminal charges.

Even if Bauer is deemed innocent by the police though, MLB can still choose to punish Bauer with a suspension. A hearing for the restraining order that the woman filed is currently scheduled for July 23.

Dodgers take Bauer bobblehead off promotional schedule

While the investigations are ongoing, the Dodgers have already started distance themselves from Bauer by removing his Bobblehead Night scheduled for Aug. 19 from their promotional schedule as well as removing all of his merchandise from their team stores.

The team said that it did not feel “appropriate” to continue to give out the bobbleheads and sell his merchandise with the investigations going on.
