Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Reveals Long History With ‘Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune’

The sixth season of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” featured the Los Angeles Dodgers, who were represented by Freddie Freeman, Kiké Hernández and Miguel Rojas.

The Dodgers teammates appeared on the 611th overall episode of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” which is streaming exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.

Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White welcome celebrity contestants to spin television’s most famous wheel for the chance to win up to $1 million for a charity of their choice.

Rojas played for the Miami Animal Rescue, which he told DodgerBlue.com was due to he and his wife being actively involved with the nonprofit.

“We don’t purchase any of our dogs and pets that we have at home. We have two cats and one dog, and all of them have been rescued from this particular place in Miami that we contribute to,” Rojas said. “We always like to be there and help with the animals.

“I think this was a pretty cool time for me to give them a little more exposure. I think it’s really important, because nowadays a lot of people are breeding, and animals are not supposed to be going through that. We would like to continue to inspire people to adopt instead of purchasing pets, because it’s for a good cause. They deserve a better life too.”

Hernández solved the first two hidden word puzzles and won the first round at $26,000. That was ahead of Freeman’s $23,000 and Rojas reaching $10,000.

However, Rojas made a strong comeback in the second half of the episode to finish with $45,950, which put him into the final bonus round. Freeman’s total closed at $36,000 raised and Hernández came in third place at $31,750.

Freeman played for CHOC Foundation, now part of Rady Children’s Health (formerly Children’s Hospital of Orange County). Hernández chose to play in honor of the Justin Turner Foundation.

That Rojas finished ahead of his Dodgers teammates isn’t a surprise when taking into account his familiarity and fandom with the show.

“I watch on TV and even when I was really young, they had it in Spanish in Venezuela. I really like it,” Rojas revealed. “I’ve always liked the show, but definitely being there and going as a celebrity, it’s a little more nerve-wracking because you’re not playing for yourself.

“You’re playing for a foundation as well. That was really cool that they let us pick a foundation we really care about to donate the money.”

The episode was filmed during the offseason, which was when Rojas also attended the Latin Grammy Awards and Kevin Hart’s roast on Netflix.

“It’s pretty cool, because I’ve always been a fan of things like that,” Rojas began. “Obviously any kid growing up watching a TV show, you want to be there. You’re solving the puzzles at home and doing that, so it’s kind of a dream come true to get the opportunity to do that. But with that, there’s a lot of responsibility. You are not just representing yourself. You’re doing it for someone else; for the community, for the team, for a foundation.

“The opportunity comes with a lot of expectations. You’re not just representing yourself. But it’s cool to see other people who are doing so good in another area that you watch on TV. For me, I’m a huge Latin music fan, so to get to see all those guys receiving awards, get to see Bad Bunny who is the hottest star right now in the world, and how much he’s been putting Latin America and Spanish-speaking people on the map, it’s really cool to see that.

“I’m always honored and proud that I can represent my family, Venezuela and the people here in L.A. as well. Those are opportunities that don’t come often, and you have to do something really, really cool just to be invited to those events.”
