Hours before Manny Machado took the field for his first home game at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced the All-Star shortstop will have a bobblehead night on Saturday, Sept. 22.

They face the San Diego Padres that evening in the second of a three-game set, with first pitch set for 6:10 p.m. PT. The weekend series is the last at home for the Dodgers during the regular season.

Assuming the team sticks with customary rules and guidelines from previous giveaway nights, the first 40,000 ticketed fans will receive a Manny Machado bobblehead.

The Dodgers acquired Machado during the All-Star break in exchange for a package of five prospects that was headlined by Cuban outfielder Yusniel Diaz.

Machado joins the likes of Rich Hill, Josh Reddick and Yu Darvish as deadline-deal acquisitions the Dodgers have made in recent years, with a focus on the postseason. Like the aforementioned trio, Machado could just be a rental as he’s eligible for free agency this winter.

Of Hill, Reddick and Darvish, only Hill was re-signed. However, the Dodgers made an earnest effort to retain Darvish but were handcuffed by self-imposed financial restraints meant to help the team reset their luxury tax penalties.
