In recognition of the impact Justin Turner has made in the local community, the Los Angeles City Council will proclaim Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, as Justin Turner Day in Los Angeles during a special ceremony at City Hall.

The day is part of the Dodgers holding their 16th annual community service week from Monday, Jan. 21, through Friday, Jan. 25. The Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour is comprised of several events that call for participation from former and current players and coaches.

The week-long activities lead up to 2019 Dodgers FanFest, which is set for Saturday at Dodger Stadium. Admission to the event is free (with a printed ticket), and select VIP experiences remain available for purchase.

For Turner, it’s the latest honor that’s come of his endless work in the community. He was named the Dodgers’ nominee for the 2018 Roberto Clemente Award, which is presented annually to a player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.

Last month, Turner and his wife Kourtney visited children in local hospitals and gifted them tickets to Disneyland.

In 2016, Turner and Kourtney founded the Justin Turner Foundation. Its mission is to support homeless veterans, children (and their families) who are battling life-altering illnesses and diseases, and youth baseball organizations.

Among other initiatives, Turner hosts an annual Golf Classic, with the Foundation’s fourth such event set for Monday, Jan. 28, at Sherwood Country Club.
