Dodgers News: Justin Turner Healthy, Excited For ‘All The Celebrations To Come’

The Los Angeles Dodgers winning their first World Series since 1988 unfortunately came with some disappointment as Justin Turner was forced into isolation after being removed from Game 6 due to a positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test.

The reasoning for Turner’s removal was not made public until after the Dodgers recorded the final out against the Tampa Bay Rays. He remained in a doctor’s office as the team rushed the field to celebrate their title.

Turner later joined his teammates and was part of the final team photo of 2020. That wound up setting off an MLB investigation, which concluded with Turner expressing regret and avoiding any punishment from the league.

Now more than two weeks later, he was part of “This Is Our Year” World Series special on SportsNet LA and reported as being in good health:

“I’m feeling great. I’m excited to be on here, be able to celebrate with these guys. Looking forward to all the celebrations to come.”

The hour-long celebration began with a video compilation of Dodgers fans reacting to the World Series win, which resonated with Turner:

“Just chills. Seeing the reactions of the fans, knowing how many messages I’ve received from young Dodger fans asking for their first World Series championship in their lifetime. No offense to you Orel, a lot of us are sick of hearing about ’88 and the 32 years. We’ve been going at it for a while. My heart is pounding right now just thinking about it. Bringing this championship back to L.A. is so special.”

Turner added the highlights shown during the special represented the first time he had watched any plays from the team’s postseason run.

Turner’s postseason records

While capturing the title brought mixed emotions for Turner, he extended and set multiple records this past October.

Turner ranks first in Dodgers postseason history in games played (72), hits (79), home runs (12), doubles (19), RBI (41) and total bases (136).
