Los Angeles Dodgers young pitcher Julio Urias’ long recovery from shoulder surgery came to an end on Saturday afternoon as he made his first Major League appearance in over a year in the team’s 17-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Urias looked good in his return, tossing a perfect inning on just 12 pitches to close out the victory, striking out one.

Saturday was also a significant day for Urias for another reason. Urias’ fellow Mexico countryman Canelo Alvarez defeated Gennady Golovkin by a majority decision in their second fight to win the unified middleweight world championship.

After the fight, Urias took to Twitter to congratulate Alvarez and celebrate with the entire country of Mexico:

Three judges scored the Canelo-GGG 2 fight 114-114, 115-113, 115-113 in favor of Alvarez. Although, it just as easily could have gone either way as many other experts scored it in favor of Golovkin. The win improved Alvarez’s professional record to 50-1-2 and gave Golovkin his first loss.

Because of how close the fight was, it could have perhaps set the stage for a third Canelo-GGG fight. The two are considered among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

The first match ended with a majority draw, so after 24 rounds between the two, it is still tough to really say who the better fighter is. If there is a third bout, then Urias will surely be rooting for Alvarez to retain his title.
