Dodgers News: Julio Rodríguez ‘Excited’ To Face Dodgers In 2026

The Seattle Mariners were one win away from being the American League representative in last year’s World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but fell short against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Mariners have largely returned the same roster for the 2026 season, minus some notable losses in Eugenio Suárez and Jorge Polanco. They hope to mitigate those subtractions with the addition of Brendan Donovan in a three-team trade with the St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays.

Seattle also boasts a young and talented starting rotation headlined by Bryan Woo and Logan Gilbert.

The Dodgers and Mariners have a singular three-game series scheduled for the upcoming season at Dodger Stadium shortly after the All-Star break.

Mariners star Julio Rodríguez is excited for his team’s matchup against the Dodgers, according to Edward Lewis of the California Post:

“I think we’re going to size up really well on the field,” Rodriguez said of how the Mariners match up with LA. “That’s where we’ll do all the talk.”

It will be the only time these two sides meet head-to-head this season until a possible matchup in the World Series.

In regard to the ongoing debate over whether or not the Dodgers are ruining the integrity of the league, Rodríguez sees no problems with the moves they have made over the past couple of years:

“I think they’re doing something good,” Rodriguez said. “I feel like they’re investing where they need to invest. They want to be able to compete. I think it’s going to be really exciting to face them this next season.”

The Dodgers have gone undefeated against the Mariners in nine games against them since Rodríguez debuted in 2022, and they will look to continue that as the target on their back grows even larger with each season.

Dodgers sweep Mariners in Clayton Kershaw’s final regular-season start

The Dodgers closed out their 2025 regular season on a high note by sweeping the Seattle Mariners to extend their winning streak to five games, but more importantly helped Clayton Kershaw earn his 223rd win in the final regular-season start of his career.

Kershaw finished his regular-season career with a 2.53 ERA in 455 games (451 starts).
