Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis was nominated for two categories in the 46th annual Sports Emmy Awards. While Davis is the Dodgers’ play-by-play man, he also covers MLB and NFL games on Fox, which earned him the nominations.
One of Davis’ Sports Emmy nominations is in the Outstanding Personality/Play-By-Play category. Davis is also up for the Emmy in Outstanding Live Special – Championship Event category for his work with Fox covering the 2024 World Series between the Dodgers and New York Yankees.

Sports Emmy Award winners will be chosen by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on May 20 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in Manhattan.
Vin Scully’s 67-year tenure as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ play-by-play announcer came to an end in 2016 when he retired and passed the mantle to Davis, who took over full-time beginning with the 2017 season.
Scully was a staple of the Dodgers, and his time with the team remains the longest of any sports broadcaster with one organization. That left big shoes for Davis to fill, but he has been up to the challenge and has thrived in his role as the lead Dodgers broadcaster.
Davis’ time with the Dodgers began in 2016 when he was hired by SportsNet LA to serve as an alternate play-by-play commentator for games Scully did not call. His tenure with the Dodgers and Fox Sports has been well received by fans and critics alike.
Joe Davis finalist for National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame
Davis and legendary Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín were both named as finalists for the National Sports Media Association’s 2025 Hall of Fame class.
Davis was under consideration for the National Sportscaster of the Year, while Jarrín was in the Hall of Fame Sportscaster category.
Ian Eagle was ultimately selected as the 2024 National Sportscaster of the Year, and Jarrín was not elected to the National Sports Media Association’s Hall of Fame class.
