The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Hyun-Jin Ryu on the 10-day disabled list with a left foot contusion, retroactive to June 29, and recalled Ross Stripling from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Ryu sustained the injury during his June 28 start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

He pitched into the sixth inning despite taking a line drive off his left foot in the fourth. X-rays were negative, though Ryu reported residual swelling and discomfort. That led to a bone scan, which despite the roster move, did not uncover any further injury.

Ryu is 3-6 with a 4.21 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 14 games (13 starts). His lone relief appearance resulted in a three-inning save, the first save of Ryu’s career. He began the season on the disabled list and was also put on the DL in June.

Stripling returns eight days after getting optioned to Oklahoma City as one of the corresponding moves to Brock Stewart and Trayce Thompson being recalled.

Stripling is 0-3 with a 4.03 ERA in 22 games this season with the Dodgers. He’s 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in three games for Oklahoma City, with two of the relief appearances coming after Stripling was sent down last week.

He was previously optioned to Oklahoma City on June 16 with the hope time away from the Majors would allow him to “reset.” Stripling rejoined the Dodgers one week later when Chris Hatcher was put on the 10-day disabled list due to thoracic inflammation.
