Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Happy To ‘Get Some Results’ Amid Struggling Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers received contributions from several players in their weekend sweep of the Boston Red Sox, but Gavin Lux especially stood out for his timely hitting.

After going hitless in the series opener, Lux went 2-for-2 with a double and home run on Saturday. The 26-year-old then recorded three hits in four at-bats, including another home run and double, during the finale on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Lux has struggled for the better part of the 2024 season, but he was happy to finally get some results at the plate, via Jack Harris of the L.A. Times:

“Obviously, I don’t think it’s been any secret it’s been a little bit of a grind for me this year,” Lux said with a sigh of relief. “So yeah, just to get some results and some positive feedback, it definitely helps.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts likes what he has been seeing from Lux in terms of his production and confidence:

“He’s fighting every day,” Roberts said. “I’ve praised him all year long about the defense, and now the bat is coming the way it has been. I think if you look at the last couple of weeks, the numbers are lining up. My eyes are lining up. I like what I see. And, you know, the confidence is certainly oozing from him.”

Lux is hitting .385/.407/.808 with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI in 27 plate appearances over his last nine games (seven starts).

He got off to a slow start this season in what is his first big league action since 2022 after missing all of last year due to a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee.

Roberts previously estimated that Lux would need some time to look like his old self at the plate. He finally appears to be settling in, and it shows with his recent results.

In 81 games this season, Lux is hitting .225/.276/.333 with 10 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 27 RBI across 286 plate appearances.

Gavin Lux’s extra-base hits

Lux at one point strung together four consecutive at-bats with an extra-base hit against the Red Sox, which gave a much-needed boost to the bottom of the Dodgers lineup.
