Almost nothing went right for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday as they lost to 5-0 their rival San Francisco Giants. L.A. only tallied three hits in the game, and the matchup saw the end of on-base streaks for Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy.

The duo entered with the two longest streaks of consecutive games reaching base safely at Oracle Park by a visiting player, with Freeman at 31 and Muncy at 27. However, neither reached base in the Dodgers’ shutout loss.

Freeman went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in one of the most uncharacteristic games of his career, while Muncy struck out in his pinch-hit opportunity.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Wil Myers, who spent the previous eight seasons with the San Diego Padres, is now the current leader at 28 consecutive games reaching safely.

Throughout his career at Oracle Park, Max Muncy has hit .297/.419/.625 with seven doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 155 plate appearances. Muncy is also the current leader for home runs by a visiting player at Oracle Park since 2018, with 11 after hitting four during this week’s series.

Freeman’s on-base streak at Oracle Park was a little more surprising considering his career numbers against the Giants. His on-base plus slugging in San Francisco is 25th among the 32 stadiums he’s played at.

Over his career at Oracle Park, Freeman has hit .284/.333/.472 with 9 home runs, six doubles and 25 RBI across 189 plate appearances. In 330 total plate appearances against the Giants, he’s batting .277/.333/.469 with 15 home runs, 11 doubles and 45 RBI.

Freeman was hitless in Wednesday’s comeback win but drew two walks to restart a streak at Oracle Park. Muncy did so as well with his two homers.

Max Muncy dislikes Oracle Park

Despite all of Muncy’s success in San Francisco, he isn’t a fan of Oracle Park, mostly because of the cold weather.

Oracle Park is traditionally considered more favorable to pitchers, but it is currently in the middle of the pack of park factors thanks to it’s spacious outfield that allows for an abundance of doubles and triples.

However, it also ranks 26th of 30th for hitting home runs, which makes Muncy’s dominance there all the more impressive.
