There are plenty of important mementos to come from the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
The pair of home run balls from Miguel Rojas and Will Smith that helped the Dodgers erase a three-run deficit in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series have already been sold in auction.
Second base from Game 6 in Toronto has also found a new home with former NFL quarterbacks David and Derek Carr. The pair of brothers are native Californians and are open about their love for the Dodgers.
During an episode of “Home Grown” with David and Derek Carr, they opened an early Christmas present and were ecstatic to learn it was the same base involved in the wild double play involving Kiké Hernández and Miguel Rojas that ended Game 6.
The brothers’ connection to California runs deep, as both their numbers have been retired by Fresno State University’s football program.
David was selected with the first overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2002 NFL Draft and went on to play 10 seasons with four different teams. His career was derailed early on because the Texans were unable to set him up for success. This included an NFL record 76 sacks allowed in David’s rookie season.
Derek was a second round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL Draft. Derek had the more successful career of the two, passing for more than 41,000 yards and 257 touchdowns across his nine seasons with the Raiders and two with the New Orleans Saints.
Despite the brothers sticking around the NFL for roughly the same amount of time, Derek started 169 games in his career compared to David’s 79.
Dodgers 2025 playoff home run balls sold at auction
Canadian father-and-son duo John and Matthew Bains ended up with the home run balls from Rojas and Smith. They put them up for bidding through SCP Auctions, with the Rojas home run ball fetching $156,000 and Smith’s netting $168,000 on Oct. 25.
Also sold in the same auction was Shohei Ohtani’s second of three home run balls against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, which went for $270,000.
