Dodgers News: Edward Paredes Recalled, J.T. Chargois Optioned To Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Edward Paredes and optioned J.T. Chargois to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Wednesday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies. Paredes joins the team for a second time this season.

He was first recalled May 1 in a corresponding move to Brock Stewart getting sent to Oklahoma City. The left-handed reliever retired two of three batters faced in his only appearance for the Dodgers.

In 15 games with OKC, Paredes has gone 2-2 with a 1.17 ERA and 1.50 WHIP while holding opponents to a .204 batting average. He’s collected 19 strikeouts but also issued 12 walks across 15.1 innings pitched.

Walks are what may have done in Chargois, who’s handed out 12 free passes in 17 innings while appearing in 20 games with the Dodgers.

Chargois last appeared in Tuesday’s game, when he started the sixth inning with a walk of Trevor Story. He eventually came around to score the go-ahead run, but back-to-back home runs by Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig lifted the Dodgers to a victory, with Chargois earning the win.

He’s 2-1 with a 4.76 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with the club. This marks Chargois’ first time being sent to the Minors since he was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins in February. If his time with Oklahoma City is anything like Scott Alexander, the Dodgers will see an improved reliever.
