The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Edward Paredes and optioned Caleb Ferguson to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Thursday’s series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s one of two roster moves the club made, as Pedro Baez was also recalled to replace the injured Tony Cingrani on the active roster.

Paredes joins the Dodgers for a third time this season. Though, he’s only appeared in one game and retired two of three batters faced. With Oklahoma City, the left-handed reliever is 2-2 with a 2.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.

Paredes joins a Dodgers bullpen that’s proven to be effective but also been taxed on the road trip thus far. They cracked in Wednesday’s loss after Ferguson only managed to record five outs in his MLB debut.

Ferguson understandably was disappointed by how his start went, but also is happy to have gotten it out of the way.

The 21-year-old returns to Oklahoma City where he’s yet to record a decision in two starts. Ferguson has pitched to a 2.25 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in those games, while recording 12 strikeouts against seven walks in eight innings.

Prior to joining OKC, he went 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA in eight starts for Double-A Tulsa.
