The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Edward Paredes for assignment in a corresponding move to claiming fellow left-handed relief pitcher Zac Rosscup off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

Paredes appeared in 15 games for the Dodgers, going 2-0 with a 5.87 ERA, 5.61 FIP and 1.17 WHIP. He collected eight strikeouts against two walks across 7.2 innings pitched. Paredes last appeared in a game on Sunday, walking the only batter faced.

He was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday to create room on the active roster for the return of Kenta Maeda from the paternity list.

With OKC this season, Paredes went 2-2 with a 2.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, 15 walks and 24 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.

Paredes made his MLB debut last season, tossing a scoreless eighth inning to earn a win in his first career game.

Over parts of two seasons with the Dodgers, the 31-year-old is 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA, 3.77 FIP and 1.06 WHIP. It’s not beyond reason to believe Paredes could remain with the organization, but he would need to first clear waivers.

He was selected by Los Angeles in the 2016 Rule 5 Draft.
