While the Los Angeles Dodgers endured their share of struggles as a whole last season, Cody Bellinger regressed from a record-setting Rookie of the Year campaign and dealt with inconsistency throughout 2018.

He’s well on his way to moving past those struggles, as Bellinger was among the Dodgers who had a wildly successful seven-game homestand. Led by five home runs from Bellinger, the Dodgers set a franchise record by homering in each of their first seven games.

Bellinger additionally leads the Majors with 13 RBI and his nine runs scored are most on the team. While the 23-year-old has made a significant impact at the plate, his focus is on contributing by any means, via SportsNet LA:

“For me, I just want to do what I can to help the team. Whether it’s running, or defense, hitting the ball hard. Just doing what I can every single day, every single game, to help the team win in any type of way.”

Bellinger’s speed and athleticism was at plate Wednesday night when he legged out a groundball into a shift in shallow right field. Bellinger wound up scoring from first base on Chris Taylor’s double to right-center field, giving the Dodgers an insurance run in their 5-3 win.

Bellinger’s versatility and willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of the team was on display even before the season began, as he accepted a move to right field. Of his seven starts this season, six have come at the position, with the other at first base.
