Skechers announced the signings of Los Angeles Dodgers’ Chris Taylor, Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola, and Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals. They joined Skechers’ MLB roster that already included Clayton Kershaw and Wade Miley.

Kershaw signed with Skechers in October 2019, just as the Dodgers were poised to start a seventh consecutive postseason appearance. The multi-year partnership has included Kershaw appearing in global marketing campaigns for Skechers’ men’s performance and athletic lifestyle footwear, and also wearing custom baseball cleats.

Skechers also signed Albert Pujols, a former Dodgers teammate of Kershaw and Taylor who retired after the 2022 season.

“After 22 years on the field, I’m ready to take it easy, so these amazing shoes from Skechers that I can put on without any effort are exactly what I need,” Pujols said. “I’m excited to be part of the Skechers team. All it took was stepping into a pair of Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins and it was a home run for me.”

Skechers is based in Manhattan Beach, Calif., which is an added benefit and natural connection for Kershaw and Taylor in their respective endorsement deals.

Although the brand doesn’t have a long history in baseball, Kershaw defended his decision to sign with Skechers during an appearance on Mookie Betts’ podcast. He also noted the brand was looking to expand their footprint with MLB players after adding Miley in 2022.

Chris Taylor excited to sign with Skechers

Taylor has been wearing Skechers cleats since the start of Spring Training. He previously was with New Balance, who of course is most known in the baseball industry for sponsoring Shohei Ohtani.

“We’re out here three to four hours every game with 162 games a year so comfort is so important to performing at your best,” Taylor said.

“I live in Manhattan Beach where Skechers is based and watched all they have done for the community and their focus on providing comfort and innovation to athletes. It feels right to be part of the family and on Team Skechers as they’re growing as a performance brand across many sports, including baseball.”
