Los Angeles Dodgers farmhand Brock Stewart has won Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 23-29, for his contributions with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Stewart turned in a brilliant performance on July 26 against the Colorado Rockies’ affiliate, Albuquerque Isotopes, tossing seven innings of one-run ball to earn a victory.

He carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of that game, although that was broken up with two singles in that frame that would lead to a run scoring. Stewart wound up striking out seven while walking two.

Stewart has split time between the big leagues and Oklahoma City for much of the season, largely in part due to his struggles during his time with the Dodgers.

In nine games (two starts) for the Dodgers this season, Stewart has posted a 6.11 ERA, 6.39 FIP and 1.81 WHIP while striking out 14 and walking nine in 17.2 innings.

As has been the case in previous years, however, the 26-year-old has excelled in his time with Oklahoma City. In 12 starts, Stewart is 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has 50 strikeouts compared to 17 walks in 57.1 innings.

If he continues to pitch the way he has, then there is a good chance he has called back up for the month of September to provide some pitching depth for Los Angeles down the stretch of a potential pennant race.
