UPDATE (Jan. 6, 10:00 a.m. PT): The Los Angeles Dodgers officially announced the signing of Brandon Beachy to a one-year contract.
Left-handed pitcher Tyler Olson was designated for assignment to clear room for Beachy on the 40-man roster. Olson was acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on Dec. 18 in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Heading into Spring Training last year the Los Angeles Dodgers stockpiled plenty of pitchers. Among their additions was the signing of Brandon Beachy to a one-year, $2.75 million contract with a club option for 2016.
At the time of signing, Beachy was recovering from a second Tommy John surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2014 season with the Atlanta Braves.
The right-hander debuted with the Dodgers in July and made two starts before getting designated for assignment and sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
He finished out the year in Oklahoma City and rather than await the Dodgers’ decision on their club option, Beachy elected free agency in October.
Given that Beachy had over three years of Major League service time, didn’t elect to become a free agent after being designated for assignment and wasn’t placed back on the club’s 40-man roster, he held the power to become a free agent once the season concluded.
The 29 year old is slated to return with the Dodgers on a one-year contract, according to Jon Heyman:

The contract calls for Beachy to earn a bonus should he make the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster, and for games started and games pitched:

In his two starts with the Dodgers last season, Beachy allowed seven runs on 10 hits, with six walks and five strikeouts in eight innings. He was 1-1 with a 3.64 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 10 games (nine starts) with Oklahoma City.
Beachy for his career is 14-12 with a 3.36 ERA, 3.41 FIP and 1.16 WHIP in 48 Major-League starts.
