The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled outfielder Andrew Toles from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned utility man Chris Taylor to Triple-A. Toles starts in left field on Sunday, giving Howie Kendrick his first day off since Aug. 8 when he appeared as a pinch-hitter.

Beyond that, Kendrick has appeared in every game since June 18. This marks the second time Toles joins the Dodgers this season. He was called up in July for his Major League debut.

Toles appeared in 16 games, making nine starts, and hit .316/.395/.395 with three doubles and one RBI before being sent down to Oklahoma City earlier this month.

The speedy outfielder began the season began the year with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, hitting .370/.414/.500 with eight doubles, two triples and nine RBIs in 22 games.

In 43 games with Double-A Tulsa, the 24-year-old batted .314/.363/.514 with 14 doubles, five home runs and 22 RBIs. Toles was with Oklahoma City for eight games prior to his promotion to the Majors.

He’s appeared in a total of 17 games with the OKC Dodgers, hitting .321/.339/.518 with five doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs.

During his previous stint with the Dodgers, manager Dave Roberts spoke highly of Toles and the speed element he brings to a roster that otherwise lacks it. Though, Toles has only stolen one base in the Majors.

Taylor started Saturday and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Overall, he hit .218/.271/.382 with two doubles, two triples, one home run and seven RBIs in 29 games (11 starts).

Taylor was optioned to Oklahoma City on Aug. 7, but never reported and returned to the Dodgers when Scott Van Slyke was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
