Multiple Los Angeles Dodgers Minor Leaguers have earned recognition this season, with Yefry Ramírez the latest, as he was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for May 9-15.

Ramírez made just one start for Triple-A Oklahoma City during that stretch, but it was a dominant performance. He allowed just three singles and a walk, induced three double plays and collected eight strikeouts over a complete-game shutout against Triple-A Round Rock (Texas Rangers affiliate).

Ramírez’s start was Oklahoma City’s first nine-inning shutout in four years and it was the team’s largest shutout win in their Bricktown era (since 1998). The complete game was Ramírez’s fourth of his career, but the nine innings represented his longest outing.

The right-hander was backed by plenty of run support in the 19-0 road win. Six different players hit a home run, including Ryan Noda and Andy Burns producing Oklahoma City’s first set of back-to-back long balls this season.

OKC set season highs with in runs, home runs, hits (19) and extra-base hits (11).

In his first start after being named PCL Pitcher of the Week, Ramírez went 5.1 innings and allowed five runs on five hits en route to being tabbed with the loss.

Overall this season, the 28-year-old is 2-1 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over seven games (six starts).

Other OKC Dodgers to earn Minor League honors this season include Zach McKinstry (Player of the Week) and Ryan Pepiot (Pitcher of the Week), both for the period of April 5-10.

Yefry Ramírez with Dodgers

Ramírez briefly was up with the Dodgers last season, throwing two scoreless innings agains the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 1. Prior to that appearance, he last had been in the Majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2019 season.

The Dodgers designated Ramírez for assignment when Cole Hamels was signed, but he cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma City. Ramírez then became a free agent during the offseason and re-signed on a Minor League contract.
