After the Los Angeles Dodgers bench struggled to consistently produce during the 2021 season, the team signed Jake Lamb, Jason Martin and others to Minor League contracts.

Manager Dave Roberts spoke highly of Eddy Alvarez and Martin during Spring Training this year, crediting them for raising the level of the Dodgers bench. However, only Alvarez went on to spend time with the team during the regular season, and he only was up for a brief time.

Alvarez ultimately was released from the organization after getting designated for assignment and clearing waivers, and he recently signed with the Milwaukee Brewers. Now Martin appears to be moving on from the Dodgers as well.

According to Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net, Martin is close to signing with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization league:

Martin was selected by the Houston Astros in the eighth round of the 2013 MLB Draft, but began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates after being included in the 2018 Gerrit Cole trade.

Martin made his MLB debut with the Pirates in 2019, though only appeared in 20 games. He then played in seven games for the Pirates the following year, and 58 with the Texas rangers in 2021.

While playing for Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, Martin batted .285/.374/.564 with 25 doubles, 32 home runs and 107 RBI.

Martin became a Minor League free agent after the 2022 season ended.

Dodgers free agents

With the 2022 MLB Winter Meetings in San Diego underway, the group of Dodgers free agents consists of Hanser Alberto, Cody Bellinger, Danny Duffy, Joey Gallo, Andrew Heaney, Tommy Kahnle, Craig Kimbrel, Jimmy Nelson, Kevin Pillar, David Price, Edwin Ríos, Trea Turner, Justin Turner and Luke Williams.

Clayton Kershaw technically is free agent as well, but he reportedly agreed to re-sign with the Dodgers for the 2023 season and merely needs to take a physical in order for the deal to be finalized.
