Dodgers, Mariners Make Interleague Play History At T-Mobile Park

The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided their first three-game losing streak since August 29-31, 2019, with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Tuesday. That additionally gave L.A. a 3-2 record on their road trip heading into another showdown with the San Diego Padres.

The afternoon affair turned into a pitchers’ duel between Marco Gonzales and Julio Urias, with both southpaws logging seven innings and combining for 17 strikeouts. Urias allowed one hit and Gonzales gave up two — which was all that either offense mustered as the respective bullpens only issued walks.

AJ Pollock’s double, Corey Seager’s RBI base hit and Mitch Haniger’s infield single combined to set an MLB record as the fewest total bases in Interleague series history for a single game.

The Dodgers improved to 3-2 in Interleague play this season and 9-3 in their past 12 games against the American League. They went 16-4 in Interleague games last year, which tied with the 2017 team for the best record against the AL in Dodgers franchise history.

Today's game between the @Dodgers and the @Mariners featured just 3 hits: 2 singles and a double.

The 4 combined total bases are the fewest in an interleague game all-time.

Since 2017, the Dodgers are 56-27 in Interleague action and have not had a losing record in such games since 2012 when they went 6-9. The Dodgers have 15 more games remaining against an AL opponent this season, which includes the Freeway Series, Houston Astros and rematch with the Mariners.

Roberts not concerned with Dodgers’ hitting

Although L.A. posted a winning record on the road trip, are 9-3 in their past 12 games and have the best record in baseball, their offense has hit a rough patch of late.

“I think there’s some hits in there that those guys made some nice plays the last few days,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, downplaying concern. It’s kind of one of those things where a few games you’re just not swinging the bat great. You’ve still got to give credit to Gonzales.

“I thought we had some pitches early to take advantage of, but he was good. Nice to come out of here with a split.”
