The recent Southern California wildfires ravaged numerous communities, including Altadena, Pasadena and Pacific Palisades, among others.
Many families lost their homes and now are completely displaced. For the Pacific Palisades Charter High School baseball team, they are attempting to prepare for the upcoming season while navigating through unimaginable challenges.
The team has been holding practices at a public park as their regular field is unplayable due to the fires. Despite the unfavorable conditions, simply coming together to play the game they enjoy has been a much-needed reprieve for the players.

According to Sam Blum of The Athletic, the Dodgers donated baseballs to the team and some players could potentially attend one of their practices in the near future.
This year’s Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour has centered around giving back and providing for those who were directly impacted by the wildfires.
Freddie Freeman visited Brentwood Science Magnet School, which has taken on students from Palisades Elementary School because it was destroyed by fire.
Cincinnati Reds All-Star and L.A. native Hunter Greene also donated cleats to the Pacific Palisades Charter High School team.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, an alum of the high school, additionally made plans to host players for the team’s upcoming game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Mark Walter & Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation donating to LA Rises
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the creation of LA Rises, a recovery initiative that’s going to bring together private sector leaders to support rebuilding efforts in the wake of the Southern California wildfires.
The Governor specifically selected Dodgers owners Mark Walter and Magic Johnson, in addition to Casey Wasserman, to lead LA Rises and recruit others to contribute to the philanthropic effort.
To seed LA Rises, Walter, the Mark Walter Family Foundation and Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation provided an initial commitment of up to $100 million.
The group plans to raise additional funds through private donations and LA Rises will provide significant resources aimed at helping Los Angeles communities most affected by the catastrophic Southern California wildfires recover and rebuild.
