Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Among Grand Marshals For 2022 Busch Light Clash At L.A. Coliseum

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts will be part of NASCAR history as one of the grand marshals for the 2022 Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sunday. Coverage on Fox begins at 11 a.m. PT, with heat sessions starting at 12 p.m.

The main event is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. In addition to a live broadcast on Fox, the Busch Light Clash will be available for radio broadcast on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

Along with Roberts, the list of grand marshals for the Busch Light Clash includes Eric Dickerson, Jim Abbott, Misty May-Treanor, Greg Townsend, Jeff Gordon, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart.

Performing artists Ice Cube, Pitbull and DJ Skee are scheduled to participate throughout the day as well.

Roberts, who previously served as a grand marshal for the 34th annual Kingdom Day Parade in 2019, said Sunday’s race at the Coliseum will be his first ever NASCAR event.

“I can’t wait,” Roberts said in a video release. “It’s going to be a day to remember and I can’t wait to see all you Dodger fans there.”

Although Roberts will be on new grounds at the Coliseum, he’ll be surrounded by two former athletes who are plenty comfortable at the stadium in Bush and Leinart. Both starred at USC, won a Heisman trophy and national championship.

Roberts unable to communicate with players

Under normal circumstances, Roberts and the Dodgers would be in the final days of the offseason as Spring Training camps are due to open in less than two weeks. However, that’s expected to be delayed due to the MLB lockout.

Such circumstances have also prevented Roberts from speaking with players over the winter, which made for an unusual situation.
