The Los Angeles Dodgers are far from having a fully healthy roster and they haven’t received expected contributions from the likes of Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker, but their 38-21 record trails only the Atlanta Braves (40-20) entering play on Monday.
After a disappointing split with the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers have won their last five series, amounting to 14 of the last 17 games.
“You’re going to get beat at times. It’s going to happen. But I do think with the talent we have, if we focus and play like we’re capable of, we should win series, regardless of home, road,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after his club took the rubber match from the Philadelphia Phillies.
Next on the Dodgers’ schedule is a quick road trip for a four-game series at Chase Field. Awaiting them is an Arizona Diamondbacks club that is only one game out of second place in the National League West. The Diamondbacks were recently on a five-game winning streak but followed that with getting swept by the Seattle Mariners.
Despite their current losing streak, Roberts anticipates a difficult matchup from their divisional opponent.
“This next one is going to be a good one. Diamondbacks always play us tough and to play at their place is always difficult,” he said. “So this is going to be a fun series coming up.”
Last year the Dodgers went just 7-6 in head-to-head meetings against the Diamondbacks. Included in that was taking four of seven games at Chase Field.
In their only series thus far in 2026 against the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers swept three games at Dodger Stadium during opening weekend.
Dodgers, Diamondbacks were part of dubious MLB history
Earlier this season, the entirety of the NL West was on a losing streak of at least three games. It marked the first time in MLB history an entire division was on a losing streak of three games or more at the end of the same day.
At the time of the record being set, the Dodgers and San Diego Padres had each dropped four games in a row. The Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies were on respective three-game losing streaks, and the San Francisco Giants had lost five in a row.
