Dodgers News: Kiké Hernández Making Appearance At Raising Cane’s

The past week saw Kiké Hernández win a second career World Series and play a starting role during the Los Angeles Dodgers’ parade and celebration, and up next is making an appearance at Raising Cane’s in Alhambra.

Hernández is following in the footsteps of Mookie Betts, who along with his wife, worked a shift at the popular chicken fingers chain earlier this year to benefit 5050 Foundation.

Hernández is expected to fill the role of fry cook and cashier during his visit to Cane’s.

The location Hernández is visiting is at 1300 E. Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801.

Hernández just completed his 11th season in the Majors, of which eight have been with the Dodgers. He began a second stint with the team upon being traded to the Dodgers at the deadline in 2023.

Hernández then became a free agent and was still in search of a team when Spring Training began this year. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman had longstanding interest in re-signing Hernández, and achieved that in late February.

He got off to a slow start this season but the Dodgers continued to emphasize patience and noted Hernández had a strong track record when it came to the postseason. Prior to again making his mark in the playoffs, Hernández benefitted from a visit to an optometrist, who discovered an astigmatism in his right eye.

Wearing eyeglasses paid dividends as Hernández put together a strong second half and carried that into October. He memorably hit a go-ahead home run off Yu Darvish in Game 5 of the National League Division Series to help the Dodgers eliminate the San Diego Padres.

What did Kiké Hernández say about Fat Joe?

Among other comments during his speech on the stage in center field of Dodger Stadium, Hernández poked fun at the New York Yankees having Fat Joe perform before Game 3.

The Dodgers called on Ice Cube to infuse excitement into Dodger Stadium prior to Game 1, and he performed again during their World Series celebration.

“Ice Cube came out and with his performance, we didn’t even need to play the game. We had already won,” Hernández began.

“Then we go to New York, and this guy, he used to be fat, he’s not fat anymore. His name is Joe. He came out and sang, and guess what? We didn’t even need to play because after that performance we had already won.”
