Dodgers Injury Update: Tyler Glasnow Feels ‘Really Good’ With Offseason MRI Results

Tyler Glasnow was in the middle of an excellent first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers before a right elbow injury prematurely ended his 2024 season.

Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow tendinitis and did not pitch again after Aug. 11. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said at the time that the decision was made out of precaution, although Glasnow felt he could continue pitching.

While there was some uncertainty over Glasnow potentially needing surgery this offseason, he recently revealed that his elbow has essentially healed on its own.

Glasnow provided another update and said he has resumed throwing for the first time since his season-ending injury, via “The Chris Rose Rotation:”

“I feel really good. MRIs and everything are good. Doing all the rehab stuff towards the end of the year and working with the Dodgers, doing all my lifting and everything like that. The second MRI I had was really good, didn’t show anything. My arm feels great and I’m starting to throw right now, so I’m pretty optimistic for next year.”

With Glasnow throwing again, it is reasonable to think he will be ready to go for the start of Spring Training next February, barring any setbacks.

The right-hander is entering the second of a five-year contract extension he signed with the Dodgers after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays last offseason.

Glasnow went 9-6 with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 11.3 strikeouts per nine over a career-high 134 innings pitched (22 starts) during the 2024 season.

Tyler Glasnow taking new approach to keep elbow healthy

Glasnow changed his approach this offseason by keeping his right arm active with low intensity workouts while he initially the rest of his body rest.

The 31-year-old indicated he would ease himself back into his normal routine as the calendar inches closer to February. Glasnow also mentioned the probability of taking a more deliberate approach and not being one of the Dodgers’ two starting pitchers for the Tokyo Series to begin the 2025 season.
