Dodgers Injury Update: Tyler Glasnow ‘Confident’ Of Returning In 2024

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached the final month of the regular season still plagued by injuries, and with Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto among those unavailable.

Kershaw was just placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday because of left big toe inflammation caused by a bone spur, whereas Yamamoto is in the midst of a rehab assignment and Glasnow is also making strides in his recovery.

He was scratched from playing catch last Tuesday but managed to throw from flat ground on back-to-back days at Chase Field.

Glasnow said both of those went well and he anticipates returning at some point this season, per Jack Harris of the L.A. Times

The good news for the Dodgers: Glasnow said Saturday he is “confident” he will return this season, encouraged from two straight days of playing catch.

“I’m feeling good,” Glasnow said. “As of right now, I feel great.”

But even with that confidence of pitching again in 2024, Glasnow recognizes there is not much margin for error given how late in the season it is:

“I don’t have a ton of time,” he acknowledged, “but I think it will be enough.”

When Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was asked last week if he was certain Glasnow would return at some point this year, he answered to only being “hopeful.”

“I think there’s still a lot of variables to be certain, but I think everyone in the organization is hopeful,” Roberts added.

Glasnow is on the injured list because of right elbow tendinitis, which he has consistently referred to as tightness. The initial expectation was he would return after spending the minimum 15 days on the injured list.

Glasnow previously spent time on the 15-day IL earlier this year because of lower back tightness. That prevented the right-hander from pitching in his first career All-Star Game.

Next steps for Tyler Glasnow

Should the 31-year-old not experience any setback, his throwing program would next entail increasing the distance and intensity with which he plays catch. That would then lead to bullpen sessions and either one of or both, facing batters in simulated games or a rehab assignment.
