Dodgers Injury Update: Logan Forsythe To Go On Eventual Rehab Assignment, Rich Hill Scheduled For Simulated Game

Logan Forsythe resumed throwing on Monday and was fielding grounders at third base prior to the series opener against the Miami Marlins, but the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t certain when the infielder might come off the 10-day disabled list.

Forsythe has been sidelined since April 15 due to inflammation in his right shoulder. “He’s taking grounders and throwing but to say when he’s going to be back or going on a rehab assignment, I don’t know,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“I would say that once the rehab assignment does start, I would say it’s four or five-game stint at the minimum.”

It’s believed shifting to third base to fill the void left by Justin Turner played a role in Forsythe developing the trouble in his throwing shoulder. This season is the second in a row in which injury has forced Forsythe to the DL in April.

Meanwhile, Rich Hill, who like Forsythe is eligible to be reinstated from the 10-day DL on Wednesday, has another checkpoint ahead. Hill threw a bullpen session over the weekend without agitating the inflammation in the middle finger on his left hand.

“What we’re planning on doing is setting up a simulated game for [Tuesday],” Roberts said. “It will be around 70-75 pitches. Once he checks that box then we’ll continue to project where he pencils in.”

Assuming Hill gets through the simulated game at Dodger Stadium without issue, he figures to slot back into the rotation on Saturday or Sunday. Hill has maintained the blister — caused by a cracked fingernail and not blisters — is a non-issue.

So much so that he felt capable of making a scheduled start against the Washington Nationals that was no longer a probability once the Dodgers put him on the DL.
