Dodgers Injury Update: Gavin Lux Expected To Return For Padres Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers concluded their first homestand of the regular season with a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves to take the rubber match of a three-game series. However, Gavin Lux remained out of the lineup due to back tightness.

The 24-year-old was a late scratch Tuesday but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t seem concerned he would miss a lot of time. “Gavin is doing well,” Roberts said. “Just the back flared up, so I don’t know his availability. I would kind of put him in the class of day-to-day, and we’ll see how he feels [Wednesday] morning.”

Lux continued making progress and should be in the lineup when the Dodgers begin a three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Friday. “He went out and worked, moved around,” Roberts said Wednesday.

“Better today, but I’m going to stay away from him. The expectation is he will be in the lineup on Friday.”

Lux has gotten off to a hot start this season as he is batting .276/.405/.483 with one home run, two stolen bases, a 152 wRC+ and .391 wOBA. He last played Monday when he went 0-for-4 in the series opener against the Braves.

Treinen likely in same category as Lux

In addition to Lux, the Dodgers could potentially see the return of Blake Treinen in Friday’s series opener at Petco Park. The right-hander was unavailable to pitch against the Braves due to right arm soreness.

Treinen has since resumed playing catch and was scheduled to throw from the mound on Wednesday. “Blake’s doing well,” Roberts said. “Catch play, got out to about 120 (feet), said he felt good. He’s going to get off the mound [Wednesday] and hopefully it goes well.”

Treinen is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA, 0.33 WHIP, five strikeouts and .100 opponents’ batting average in three innings pitched across three appearances this season.
