Dodgers Injury Update: Brusdar Graterol Nearing Bullpen Session

Brusdar Graterol is among the Los Angeles Dodgers players looking to bounce back this year after missing the entire 2025 season due to right shoulder trouble.

The right-hander underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder after the Dodgers won the 2024 World Series, but never made much progress.

Graterol provided an update on his health and said he is in a much better spot going into the 2026 season.

“Right now I’m in a good position,” Graterol revealed at DodgerFest over the weekend. “I feel great, my body. The goal is to stay healthy too. But yeah, I mean, I feel great. I feel great. I’m going to continue like that, and I’m going to be working hard too, and then ready to rock and roll.”

Graterol shared that he has been playing long toss and could throw his first bullpen session in the near future.

“Right now, just throwing, like 200 feet, easy,” Graterol said. “But I think next we are going to start throwing bullpens to be ready for spring training. That’s the goal.”

The Dodgers were hopeful that Graterol could return during the second half of the 2025 season, but he went through stretches without throwing and did not even make an appearance at the Minor League level.

“I mean, that was hard for me, because I had good days, bad days, but I had more bad days,” Graterol said. “I never gave up, but the last month to the postseason, World Series, I tried to get back too, but my arm, my shoulder was so tired because I was thrown all year trying to be back.

“But one day, I said I want to stop, be ready for next year, and now I’m here. I feel great.”

Graterol noted that his shoulder began feeling normal again in January and that he hopes to be ready to go on Opening Day.

“Thankful for this opportunity,” Graterol said. “I feel great, thank God. Thank God for another year here with the team, the best team. So, yeah, I feel great.”

Brusdar Graterol’s 2026 outlook

Graterol is entering his final year of team control before potentially becoming a free agent after the 2026 season. He and the Dodgers reportedly avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.8 million contract.

In parts of five seasons with the Dodgers, Graterol owns a 10-8 record with a 2.69 ERA, 3.19 FIP and 1.03 WHIP over 181 innings pitched (178 games; five starts).

He is projected to be part of a bullpen that includes offseason signee Edwin Díaz, Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia and Blake Treinen, among others.
