Dodgers Injury Update: Alex Call Dealing With Minor Foot Issue

The Los Angeles Dodgers made several moves at the MLB trade deadline last year, which included acquiring Alex Call from the Washington Nationals to address their need for a right-handed hitter.

Call hit .247/.333/.384 with four doubles, two home runs and five RBI in 38 games down the stretch for L.A., helping the team repeat as World Series champions. He also filled in as a defensive sub for Teoscar Hernández often and was an occasional pinch-runner.

The 31-year-old again is expected to make spot starts for the Dodgers this season, but he has yet to play in a Cactus League game due to a foot injury, via Jack Harris of the California Post:

One Dodgers outfielder who has not yet appeared in Cactus League play, and likely won’t for at least a little while longer, is Alex Call. Though last year’s trade deadline acquisition has been participating in team workouts this week, he is also nursing a minor foot issue that has put him on a slightly slower progression this spring.

“Just woke up one morning and my foot hurt, which was weird,” Call said. “But didn’t do anything (specifically to hurt it). Not too concerned about it.”

With Cactus League play only beginning this past weekend, the Dodgers have no reason to rush Call into a game until his foot is completely healed.

It is nevertheless encouraging that he has been able to participate in Spring Training workouts, so he may make his 2026 Cactus League debut sooner rather than later.

Along with Call, Tommy Edman, Brusdar Graterol and Blake Snell have been limited at the start of Spring Training as they navigate respective injuries.

Alex Call avoided arbitration with Dodgers

Call was among the Dodgers players who were eligible for salary arbitration during the offseason. He qualified as a Super 2 player and ultimately settled at $1.6 million.
