The Los Angeles Dodgers are collaborating with Hololive Production on a promotional night at Dodger Stadium for the second year in a row.
In 2024, the Dodgers invited VTuber Gawr Gura and other members under the Hololive virtual YouTuber agency umbrella. The invited guests made the ceremonial “It’s time for Dodger baseball” announcement prior to the game, in addition to other activities.
A VTuber is just like any other streamer on YouTube or other streaming platform, except they do so with a virtual avatar and not their own face.
This year, fans who purchase a special ticket pack will get a set of three unique hololive trading cards. This includes Koseki Bijou, Ninomae Ina’Nis and IRyS, depicted as a pitcher, catcher and batter, respectively.
Thirty minutes after the game ends, there will be a hololive post-game show featuring hololive characters streaming on DodgerVision. Additionally there are also plans for fan interactions, a staring contest and mascot racing.
Motoaki Tanigo, president, CEO and founder of Cover Corporation, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
As was the case last year, Hololive VStreamers are also going to make the “It’s time for Dodger baseball” announcement before game starts.
Hololive Production is a virtual YouTuber agency owned by Japanese tech entertainment company Cover Corporation. As of May 2025, the agency manages 88 active VTubers, totaling over 80 million subscribers. The company and its entertainers cater to audiences that speak Japanese, Indonesian and English.
Tanigo founded Cover Corporation in 2016 with a focus on augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) software. By the end 2017, the company showcased a tech demo for a program enabling real-time avatar motion capture and interactive, two-way live streaming.
Reasons for Dodgers Hololive Night
The Dodgers and Hololive Production chose to continue what they believe is a mutually beneficial collaboration. The Dodgers hope they can continue to generate brand awareness in an industry with a large Japanese audience. While Hololive Production looks to grow its presence outside of their current demographic.
Tanigo has previously expressed his hope that the blending of two distinct fanbases will allow both parties to connect their followers into a unified community.
