The Los Angeles Dodgers are closing out the 2022 regular season with a special celebration on Saturday, October 1, to honor legendary Hall of Fame Spanish broadcaster Jaime Jarrín to finish off his final year with the club.

The team will also hold its annual La Gran Fiesta prior to their 6:10 p.m. game against the Colorado Rockies. Fiesta festivities will kick off just after 3:00 p.m. and they are followed by a pre-game tribute to Jarrín beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for both events that are part of the organization’s ongoing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The highly anticipated La Gran Fiesta is taking at the 76 station in parking lot 6 at Dodger Stadium. The family event includes live music, on-stage player appearances, alumni autograph sessions, a World Series trophy photo opportunity, interactive games and much more.

This year, fans can enjoy a musical performance by Banda La Maravillosa in addition to music by DJ Mal-Ski. Julio Urías, Trea Turner, Joey Gallo and Hanser Alberto are among the Dodgers scheduled to appear during the event.

Jarrín will also be making a special on-stage appearance to reflect on his 64 seasons as a Dodgers broadcaster, his signature home run call (se va, se va, se va) and what fans mean to him. Dodger alumni, including Steve Yeager, Manny Mota and Ken Landreaux, will also be in attendance for autographs.

Prior to Saturday’s game, the pre-game ceremony will be held on the field to honor Jarrín’s career. Guests scheduled to appear include Senator Alex Padilla, Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Gil Cedillo, Fernando Valenzuela, Pepe Yñiguez and Edward James Olmos.

Singer and actor Jaime Camil will sing the national anthem and Jarrín’s grandson Stefan will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance will also receive a commemorative Jaime Jarrín pin giveaway.

Jarrín first started broadcasting Dodgers games in Spanish in 1959 and this upcoming homestand will mark the final regular season games of his illustrious career.

Earlier this month, the Dodgers honored Jarrín and more of their longtime employees who spent at least 25 years with the organization.

Jarrín was the last to be recognized during the ceremony as he stood at home plate while fans treated the Spanish voice of the Dodgers to a standing ovation.

Jaime Jarrín thankful for 64 years with Dodgers

Along with Vin Scully, Jarrín became a staple in the Dodgers broadcast booth, calling three perfect games, nearly two-dozen no-hitters, 26 All-Star Games and 29 World Series.

“I think it’s time to give way to somebody else because 64 years is a long time,” Jarrín told DodgerBlue.com earlier this year. “I have enjoyed it very much, it has been a great ride for me to be with the Dodgers.”

Jarrín is currently the longest-tenured active baseball broadcaster and looks forward to spending more time with his family after he officially retires.

“After 64 years, I think it’s time for me to change priorities, dedicate more time to my family, to my two sons,” Jarrín said. “For many, many years I have been away from them for so much.

“I’m trying to pay them back for time that I missed being away with the Dodgers, on the road all the time, so it is very special.”
